Kiron is a general, specialist upper gastrointestinal and bariatric surgeon.
He is Director of Heidelberg Weight Loss Surgery & Minimally Invasive Surgery Melbourne and has a keen interest in minimally invasive surgery including laparoscopic (key-hole), Da Vinci robotic surgery and single incision robotic surgery.
Kiron is highly experienced in Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery which includes Bariatric surgery techniques (gastric banding, gastric bypass, mini gastric bypass and sleeve gastrectomy), Gallbladder surgery, Upper GI Cancer and Reflux surgery. He is also highly experienced in General Surgery including Hernia surgery, Gastroscopy & Colonoscopy, Pilonidal Sinus and Vasectomy.
Kiron is a strong advocate of the benefits of multidisciplinary management and is proud of the team at Minimally Invasive Surgery Melbourne. He passionately believes in the management of obesity and cancer, you will find him to be affable and very approachable.
Kiron is a member of the Austin hospital UGI/Bariatric unit and is actively involved in research, developing management protocols and outcomes assessment tools. He is also actively involved in the training of junior surgeons and nurses at the Austin hospital and believes appropriate training to be pivotal in the future direction of surgery. Kiron is also a founding member of OSSANZ, IFSO and ANZGOSA.
Clinical Nurse Specialist
Natalie is usually the first person you will be acquainted with at Minimally Invasive Surgery Melbourne. She has had a variety of roles previously within both the Public and Private sector. Her experience at the Austin Hospital includes co-ordinating and case managing as a Liaison Nurse for the General Surgery units, Endoscopy and the Orthopaedic department. Natalie was a member of the emergency department where she completed Post Graduate studies in Critical Care Nursing, as well as Health Promotion Officer and Practice Nurse of the Melbourne University Health Service. She has also been involved in development of management protocols and patient care pathways for patients undergoing surgery.
As well as being pivotal to managing the practice, Natalie is very involved with the overall management of all patients including initial pre-admission consultation, liaison with the rest of the team, theatre scheduling, initial post operative assessment and is a much appreciated support person. Natalie is central to the co-ordination of total patient care.
Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD)
Noela has a Master of Nutrition and Dietetics and a Bachelor of Applied Science Honours (Human Movement). Noela is an Accredited Practising Dietitian since1999 and is a member of the Dietitians Association of Australia (DAA).
Noela started her career as a dietitian in the public health sector at the West Gippsland Hospital and the Pakenham Community Health Centre. She has extensive experience in providing individual dietary assessment, education, counselling and support for those with diet related conditions such as diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, constipation, diverticulitis, heart disease, diabetes and obesity. As well as experience in working with group education programs (i.e. diabetes, cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation).
Since 2004, Noela has worked in private practice at the Grimshaw St Medical Clinic and has a wealth of experience managing bariatric patients. At Minimally Invasive Surgery Melbourne, she will provide specialised dietetic care and management for weight loss, cancer and other conditions.
Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD)
Mandy has a Masters in Dietetics, Graduate Diploma in Human Nutrition and a Bachelor of Science with honours in Genetics. Mandy is an Accredited Practising Dietitian, and a member of the Dietitians Association of Australia.
Mandy’s work in nutrition began in 2005, when she was involved in research investigating the effects that nutrition in early life can have on diseases that occur later in life. She then completed further study into human nutrition to follow her interest in helping people to achieve better health through nutrition. Mandy prides herself on really listening to individuals, and providing nutrition advice based on what she hears.
Mandy now works in private practice providing individual and tailored advice to help optimise health. As a member of Minimally Invasive Surgery Melbourne, she will continue to provide individual dietetic care and management for weight loss, cancer and other conditions.
Glenda has been working as a psychologist for over 20 years, including having worked for nine years as a specialty therapist with patients undergoing obesity surgery. Glenda works in a holistic way and has a particular interest in helping bariatric patients achieve a healthy life-style change. At Minimally Invasive Surgery Melbourne, Glenda is part of our specialised multi-disciplinary team and is involved in screening patients prior to bariatric surgery to identify any contra-indications for positive outcomes or psychological risk factors likely to require intervention post-surgery (such as depression or major anxiety disorders). She can also provide valuable counselling and support for patients diagnosed with cancer and their families
More generally, Glenda will help people develop skills to better manage emotional urges to eat and deal more effectively with set-backs, to re-connect to living life in a valued and meaningful way, and to diversify health-related behaviours. Administration and Accounts
Jessica is an extremely valuable member of Minimally Invasive Surgery Melbourne and has had extensive background experience being a receptionist at a very successful orthopaedic surgical and gastroenterological practice. She brings to Minimally Invasive Surgery Melbourne, a wealth of management skills.
Jess has become our reliable administration/accounts manager and is the first smiling face to greet you at our reception desk. You will find Jess to be extremely helpful in organizing appointments, catering to your administrative needs including organizing work/carer’s certificates and liaising with general practitioners/pathology/radiology for the provision and gathering of up to date referrals and medical records. She is also skilled at venipuncture and ECG.
